Very Cold Ride

At KOA at Willapa Bay/Bay Center, WA. Very cold ride.

Getting A Lot CooleršŸ„¶

Temps are dropping a bit. Leave in the morning and head to Cape Lookout State Park near Tillamook, OR. Ride will be along the coast but is probably going to be pretty chilly. I have been told a section of the coast road is one lane only for about 20 miles due to storm damage. New chain on bike today and not particularly happy with the new chain. Standard chain, not O ring, but take what you can get. Updated map of states visited by motorcycle. Alaska is the only one I have not been to at all. Have to work on that! Some views south of Harris Beach.

Harris Beach Park, Oregon

Well, goodbye to California. The coast got better and better the farther north I headed. It appears that is going to continue in Oregon. Today's ride, weather, scenery were as good as they could be. And, DR and I picked up another state we had never been to. And the trip is officially at 25,000 miles since June. After today, I am not sure how long I will be in Oregon. It is a spectacular place. Weather will Aldo be a factor as it is evident that it is wintertime! Really a fantastic time to be here though. Eureka, CA was a much busier town than I expected and looked like a place I would like to return to. Brookings, OR has everything you could need and I already found excellent tacos and tamales. What a deal! More pics tomorrow. I am done eating, its getting dark, I have firewood and beer to drink.

Last Day In California

Staying in Humboldt State Park tonight then heading to Harris Beach State Park near Brookings, Oregon tomorrow. My time in California has been good, bad, terrible, incredible. Quite a range of experiences. After a bit of reflection, the encounters I had with the weather were rough because I was not prepared for it, so my fault. On the plus side, I experienced weather here that relatively few people have seen. On a motorcycle and in a tent. Kinda cool actually, though I can only say that in retrospect! A few more pics of the redwoods. Out of California tomorrow!

Glorious!

What do you call a day like this? Glorious! Soul restoring and completely undeserved. Pure gift. Camping at Humboldt State Park, Burlington Campground. A lot of storm damage, a lot of parks closed but this one is partly open. Camping in the redwoods. How long? I don't know but I am confident the experience will have great value. And, I am literally camping in a redwood. Actually 2 redwoods that have hollows facing each other so that my tent fits right in.
