Raint Days And Mondays...

So, a very wet night in Oregon's Nehalem State Park.

A fellow with a big RV in an adjacent camp site came over while I was putting my tent up in the rain. He stayed long enough to tell me he rides a BMW GS and to point out that I was nuts. Then he retreated to his RV. I didn't really benefit from the conversation.

During last night's entertainment, I was struck with the sad realization that gringos cannot roll "r's". I no longer think increasing taco consumption  will help.

All my gear, including the down sleeping bag, put away wet this morning. Joy.

Taking a coffee break in Tillamook. Rain has let up for now but expected back shortly. I would venture a guess that California, Oregon and Washington get more rain than the rest of the Universe, combined. Maybe the annual claims of "Drought! Drought!" are a scam to secure federal dollars; there sure as hell ain't no drought out here.

Chain continues going south. Taking the most expedient route to Redding, CA, where DR has parts waiting. NB: Don't buy cheap chains, they are cheap for a reason.

Hotel tonight. Hopefully I can get my sleeping bag dried out but no guarantee, it's pretty wet.

  1. Sounds like the RVer just wanted to let you know how crazy he thought you were.🙂. Hope you get dried out and the weather straightens up.

    1. Stuff pretty dried out tonight. Head to California Castle Craig Park tomorrow for a day or two. Looked at Mt. Shasta campground but shut down.

  2. Keith, if it's OK, I'm going to permanently borrow your most astute observation of "I didn't really benefit from the conversation."
It's polite, but power-packed. Sounds like something Tillie would've said. LOL

As for the RV gentleman, wonder what his MPG ranges. One trip around the RV camp? (Given that I live in RV production country here in northern Indiana, I just couldn't resist that thought.)

    1. Hey Cuz! You are welcome to the observation. Sometimes, conversations leave me with a great deal of...well...nothing. But, maybe the other person gets something , you just never know.
As for his mpg, I would guess it is "slightly worse" than my faithful little Suzuki😁
