Returning from a morning hike, I got back into the park and was walking on the road to my campsite.
As I was walking, I noticed a snake about three feet off my to my left. Turned out to be a western diamondback rattlesnake. Only about 14" long, but he still seemed quite unhappy that I interrupted his sunbathing. With a rattle, he left the road and headed back into the desert. Pic is from my phone camera, which no longer focuses. Should have had my camera with me.
