Leasburg Dam State Park And The Road To Hatch

Arrived at Leasburg Dam State Park, northwest of Las Cruces. Small park and very popular with Snowbirds enroute to Arizona. Area looks like it has some great off road riding.

Made my way to Hatch, NM, about 25 miles from the park and home of those delicious Hatch Chilis.

At 16:50, it is a beautiful 56 degrees, very little wind and the sun is getting low in the sky. This is considered a very good dark sky area, so looking forward to the night sky before the moon rises.

DR is hanging out and being awesome. I just got a cup of coffee made. Time for some R and R.

At 18:40, I have to add an observation. Sky does not seem to be so dark, but I can see the divide in the Milky Way, all the handle stars of the Little Dipper, and the Andomeda Galaxy, first with averted vision and then, almost unbelievably, directly, though only for a second or two. Southern sky sucks due to lights from Radium Springs.
