Cross the Sabine river from Texas into Vernon Parish, LA. Just east of the river is the site of a Confederate stronghold, and now a memorial, placed to defend against Union soldiers attacking from the river.
Seeing the Confederate flag flying high provided a stark reminder that many Americans have been indoctrinated to view the Confederates as evil and Lincoln as some sort of Messiah. Hopefully, some future generation will correct this view of Lincoln, having the mass murdering pscho-tyrannt's bones exhumed and burned, and then ground into dust.
