The DRZ Chronicles

 Had bike serviced in Lynchburg this morning an made my way to Duethat park in for an overnight stay before starting Section 3 of the BDR. Duethat is a beautiful park, apparently with a large bear population. Signs are everywhere. Dont need any visitors tonight... Section 3 will take me out of beautiful Virginia and to Moorefield, WV. 193 miles in length, it is the longest section of the route  Will be getting a very early start tomorrow but may be boondocking somewhere en route.

 

 Section two was a blast, a bit over 70 miles. Mud Tub Road was a bear. Lots of very slippery mud. DR did his best to make up for my incompetence, but down we went! No harm to the bike. Aluminum pannier bit my right heel pretty hard but nothing broken. Holing up for a couple days before attempting Section 3. Tomorrow is time for an oil change.

 Rode to Damascus, VA and picked up the beginning of the BDR. Completed section 1.  A blend of paved back roads and gravel forest and state roads, the ride was spectacular and, at times, challenging. 138 miles total. Section 2 will only be 79 miles, while section 3 will be 193 miles. A total of 9 section. Section 2 begins near Pembroke, VA.

 

 I have encountered some wonderful people on this trip including a few pictured below. Ignore the "news", turn off the mass media propaganda machines and get out to meet people!

 Anther stop. This time in Wyethville, VA. About 65 miles to Damascus, I think. Need to do some planning I neglected to do while chasing the Confederacy and dry off. Weather is becoming a problem again, with rain predicted for the next week. 

 Camp all rolled up and DR is loaded. Time to head to Damascus and the start of the MABDR.

 Intending to correct my "error", I set out today for Richmond, VA, the location of Hollywood Cemetery, which is where President Jefferson Davis is buried. I did not make it to Richmond. Google had routed me through Appomattox and I got sidetracked. After reviewing Appomattox, seeing the grave of Jefferson Davis did not seem as important. Appomattox is a tragic place, but the victors get to write the history, so a few pictures of the place where the country, founded after breaking away from England, came to it's end, destroyed by Abe Lincoln and his bands of murderers, rapists, thieves and destroyers of liberty. Mi amigo, Eduardo Torres, asked me: "What happened to my country, the one that started it's constitution with "We the people?" Lincoln killed it. It took a long time to finally pass into history, but Lincoln struck the death blow to that country and to liberty. A man's natural rights are his own, against the whole world; and any infringement...
